Tanzania's customs landscape has seen several significant regulatory changes heading into 2026. As your licensed clearing agent, Ademark is here to help you navigate these updates and ensure your imports clear smoothly and compliantly.
The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) introduced updated HS Code alignment with the 2022 World Customs Organisation nomenclature, effective January 2026. This affects duty rates for several product categories, including electronics, vehicles, and agricultural inputs. Importers are advised to review their tariff classifications with a licensed agent before the next shipment.
Single Window System (TASWS) is now mandatory for all commercial imports above USD 500 in value. All supporting documents — Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/Air Waybill, Certificate of Origin, and Import Declaration Form (IDF) — must be uploaded into the system prior to vessel arrival.
Clearance timelines at the Port of Dar es Salaam currently average 3-5 working days for low-risk consignments processed through the Green Channel, and 7-10 working days for Red Channel inspections. Pre-arrival lodgement of documents at least 5 days before vessel arrival is strongly recommended.
